Pimples

Couple of weeks ago I was hit with the catastrophe of having acne problem. Reason being catastrophic is that, I have always pride my fair flawless skin since young and to see the mirror reflection of myself with acne, is really beyond my acceptance.

Till now I do not understand why the sudden flare: allergy to hair products ? allergy to skin care products? allergy to cosmetics? allergy to the unknown?!

Seeing that I did not have a major change of skin care / cosmetic products, I narrowed the culprit to a new hair wax thingy I bought recently. But even though I have stopped using foresaid culprit, my acne worsen. With the initial location being at my lower right jawline, it spread upwards to the right cheeks and then bits of tiny pimples started to pop out on the LEFT cheeks!

So I did what I was taught to treat pimples: topical antibiotics & retinoids. Lots of water and skipped all skincare aside from the basic cleansing toning and moisturising. And the situation did not improve! IN fact, a lot of the pimples started to grow bigger redder and due to the side effects of retinoids, my skin felt tender to touch!

I was devastated! This is NOT supposed to happen!! By right, the pimples should have reduced in size intensity and occurrence, so why is it NOT happening to me!?

Then I got despo. Instead of using once nightly applications of retinoids, I illegally (people don't follow my footsteps here) used retinoids up to THREE freaking times. (duh! hence the inflamed tender skin!)

Nevertheless, the situation is like shit, just that it didn't look like shit black, but it's shitty anyway.

I gave up!

I chuck all the antibiotics and retinoids aside. Went back to my routine facial care of cleansing toning moisturising and deep hydrating masks. I went back to my usual eating habits, instead of just downing myself with high fibre fruits / vegan diet.

2 days later, the pimples have significantly reduced in redness and my skin looks healthier instead of being so sensitive.

This is how it looks like now under normal light. Can still see the pimple scar, but at least it's not that annoying. So what I do now is, if I feel it's infected, I'll slab on antibiotics and retinoids. Other than that, I leave it be. And oh, yah, the most important pointer is, NO FOUNDATION LIQUID / POWDER / MAKEUP on the affected area.

So even though my skin isn't flawless now, but at least I have reached a compromise of accepting that it is not AS bad as it was. ;)
